WISE WILD WORTHY WOMEN – CELEBRATE YOU!
Whether you recently got a promotion or a raise, committed to new love, volunteered at a nonprofit, made a tough decision, had a difficult conversation, graduated, stood up for yourself, owned a mistake, adopted a pet, or took care of your dying parent, picked up a chip at an AA or other type of 12-step meeting, or launched a new business – I celebrate you!
Have you celebrated you?
Even successful women in the workplace might find it uncomfortable to celebrate themselves. Some of us are taught it’s selfish to be proud of ourselves or taught to stay small and give others the credit. Maybe you brush off any kudos; dismiss positive input. Maybe you were expected to perform at a high level, and excel socially, financially, and professionally. Over time perhaps, you lost touch with the courage it takes to perform under pressure and constant expectation. (If you are still pushing and putting yourself under such pressure and stress that it’s hurting you, get help please.)
I believe in celebrating the wins, the losses, and the courage it took to show up for the game. In a world where so many people are shuffling from one day to the next, going along to get along — numb to the experience of mustering the courage to do it another day, I celebrate us for leaning in, showing up, and daring greatly!
I help successful women in 12-step recovery honor themselves. When you tell another person out loud you did something you’re proud of, just notice the courage it took to do the thing as well as the courage it took to tell others about it. In turn – I challenge you to applaud someone else today. Recognize an effort and high-five them for having the courage to do it.
By the way, if you believe you don’t have the courage to take that next step, do that thing you really want to do, and get the results you want – notice how you feel and what thoughts come to mind. And know that I celebrate you for reading this blog post and contemplating doing something courageous soon…
If you have a recovery milestone or anything else to celebrate and want to do it together – or you want to find the courage to show up for yourself – let’s talk.
