MARCH BRINGS WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITIES!
With the arrival of March, you feel the anticipation of excitement and possibilities.
Your calendar is loaded for fun – the Rodeo, Spring Break, Mardi Gras, March Madness, Spring Training (with the excitement and expectation of Opening Day), and more. Early blooms and spring gardening. Blankets of bluebonnets appear along Texas highways. Just think about your local area and all that is available for you to enjoy.
New growth reawakens your creativity, and spring weather sends your positive energy soaring, “I’m ready, let’s go!”
YET YOUR DEEP-INSIDE RESPONSE IS, “I’M NOT READY.”
- As a soon-to-be empty nester, you’re feeling bittersweet sadness that your kid is college-bound. It’s the last spring break, the senior prom, and the final summer.
- A parent and partner, you’re afraid you’ll have little in common come fall. You’re anxious and think, “Ugh. I’m losing my teenager and maybe my marriage.”
- It’s time to spring clean, ramp up your cardio, make all the summer plans, coordinate all the kids, people, others – and complicated travel. Your thought is, “Ugh, I’m so not ready for all of that.”
- It’s tax/audit season and you haven’t kept up with your bookkeeping and mileage tracking. “I can’t get tickets to any of these March events until I get my work done.”
- You’ve gained a few pounds in the winter doldrums and two-year pandemic shut-in. With the lockdown ending and opportunities knocking – you think, “I have to look good enough before I can go out and enjoy the Spring fun.”
YOU WILL STAY SMALL AND STUCK IF YOU KEEP OPERATING FROM YOUR INTERNALIZED NEGATIVE THOUGHTS AND LIMITING BELIEFS.
Fighting reality is a futile strategy (unless you want to stay blocked). There is hope, however. You may just have some thought work and emotional healing to do.
HARD NEWS
You’re doing what you’re choosing to do. You are exactly where you want to be, as you want to be. (I know. I don’t always like hearing this either.)
HOPEFUL NEWS
You can choose (right now) to self-examine, determine your part, take action, heal, and change. (You don’t have to go through this work alone.)
HECK-YES NEWS
It’s possible for YOU to be the person who’s always ready for what’s next. Now is YOUR time for self-care, self-love, and self-transformation.
It’s never too late to drink more water, eat more veggies, start walking, sleep more, and meditate. Block your calendar for 45 minutes each morning just for you! In fact, mark your calendar and dedicate yourself to your SELF-CARE ROUTINE.
TRY THESE SELF-LOVING ACTS:
- When you feel disconnected and small – put on bright colors and a straw hat. I dare you!
- Find some comfortable lip balm that makes you feel feminine and sensual.
- Do something frivolous that costs nothing extra – picnic in the park, anyone?
- Go to the beach – and enjoy the sound of waves reaching the shore.
- Find a journal and favorite pen that inspire you to write something true and personal
- Delight in sipping something warm from your favorite mug.
- Be still. Quiet. Hear the neighborhood sounds and doze off when your eyes get heavy.
- Set the table for a special occasion and try a new recipe. Invite others if you wish.
- Curl up in self-loving peace and do nothing for as long as you can get away with it.
Then you’ll be ready to risk saying YES to wonderful opportunities.
Be the you who is always ready for what’s next. Be present, not perfect. Be genuine and authentic, don’t fake it. Do your work and show up. You’ll be more likely to get up, go out, and get going.
LET THE ANTICIPATION OF FUN LURE YOU RIGHT OUT YOUR FRONT DOOR.
Doing these self-loving acts with your self-care habits will help you reframe your thoughts (which changes your feelings). Your energy will begin to flow as you break free of negative, limiting beliefs.
