IT’S OKAY TO STOP DOING IT ALL YOURSELF AND ASK FOR HELP

Feeling wiped out and ready to go – all at once? This time of year, most of us need a little help and support (even if we don’t know we do).

IT’S ESSENTIAL TO RECOGNIZE YOUR STRESS LEVELS AND CHECK IN WITH HOW YOU’RE REALLY DOING.

Time to yell Mayday! As school’s almost out, graduation plans roll out, or you’re ready for your vacation but have what seems like an unreasonable amount of work to do first, you are responsible for a lot – especially without back-up, without help, without support.

Feel like you need an oxygen mask? I bet.

If you’re trying to do it all, all by yourself – holding down your job, keeping the house clean, the family fed, the pets groomed – be honest with how much you’re expecting from yourself. You tell yourself you should just dig deep and muster the energy, organization and motivation to get it all done.

Please do yourself a favor: increase the amount of help and support around you this month. With end of school, graduation parties, award ceremonies, team dinners, launching your teen for college, making summer plans for the family, meeting your mid-year or annual goals on time, organizing fall events before constituents flee from the summer heat, finding some time for fun in the sun, or claiming a quiet place to read an inspiring book – it’s okay to admit that it’s too much.

GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION TO HAVE SOMEONE HELP YOU WITH TASKS AND CHORES. DOING IT ALL BY YOURSELF – TO THE POINT OF OVERWHELM AND UTTER STRESS – KEEPS YOU DISCONNECTED FROM YOURSELF.

If YOU need emotional support – and who doesn’t – know that it’s more than okay to get it. I urge you to take care of yourself! Carrying a heavy and stressful load and burden all by yourself is not an effective strategy for your mental, emotional or physical health. Exhausting yourself, feeling alone and overwhelmed – that can all get scary and lead to unhealthy choices.

Let’s make it NOT okay to NOT ask for help.

I, for one, think it’s very cool to ask for help with daily tasks, busy-time-of-year activities and strategizing your next big move – and for sure it’s cool to have emotional support.

Whether you are working (outside the home) or parenting – or both, know that the number of things you go through, the intensity and stress you experience, and what you get done from New Year’s to School’s Out is remarkable (and mentally exhausting).

During that time, you may also have had a loss or health scare, or taken the trip of your life, or changed jobs, or come into something incredibly wonderful. Things add up, stack up.

Kicking off the new year. Annual goal setting. Back to school. Programs and service launches. Babysitters. Birthday parties, anniversaries and fundraisers. Valentine’s Day. Spring break. Doctor appointments. Mother’s Day. Nonstop media delivering on the pandemic, changing policies, world, national and state politics, the economy, and more, more, more.

It’s non-stop folks. It’s okay to ask for help or to share the burden with someone else. After all, you don’t get to take a vacation day from being a mom, boss or employee, or wife. You have real responsibilities to manage – and a life to live! Now’s the time to ask for help.

GIVE YOURSELF THE GIFT OF MOVING GRACEFULLY THROUGH THIS BUSY TIME. KEEP YOUR PROMISE TO NOT DO IT ALL, ALL BY YOURSELF, THIS TIME.

As a licensed master social worker, consultant, and certified life coach who’s been where you are – I’ve emerged at a slower pace, ask for help and support when I need or want it – and experience inner peace!

I help people just like you – undeniably successful in many ways and ready to create the life they love. Whether you want to develop, change, heal, or improve some area of your life – personally or professionally – I’ll help you tap into your energy and intuition, shift your priorities, get realistic, find the courage to say no, make big decisions, transition your career, and breakthrough limiting beliefs that keep you small and stuck from your authentic life.

Book a call with me and let’s talk about where you are and where you want to be. It would be an honor to be your safe sounding board and trusted guide along your journey.
