CAPACITY-BUILDING BRINGS RELIEF, HOPE + SUCCESS
I've helped many nonprofit organizations launch something new - a service, program, strategic initiative, fundraising event, capital campaign, acquisition, collaboration, partnership, and business model.
These strategic efforts are essential to the organization's revenue goals JUST AS internal preparation is vital to success.
When an organization SKIMPS on getting ready through capacity-building, the launch will not be as successful as it could be due to lost opportunities (which are due to stretching your people and internal resources past the point of productivity).
Expect that preparing your organization for taking on something new will impact your team. Consider your team - especially your go-to people you want to hand everything important to. Do they have the resources, time, team, and budget to do what they need to do to be successful?
New initiatives take time, energy and resources. Often, it means adding people to the effort, upgrading the tech stack and running feasibility on "something new" to ensure buy-in from the key constituents to support it.
Think CAPACITY-BUILDING: the process of developing and strengthening the skills, instincts, abilities, processes and resources that an organization needs in order to launch, succeed and thrive.
Having worked in the C-suite of three nonprofit organizations planning to launch capital campaigns, I can attest that internal preparation and appropriate resourcing are ESSENTIAL for sustained success.
Without them, your strategic efforts will cost more than time and money. You'll lower staff morale and quash motivation, pitfalls and costly to come back from.
If you're a leader, invest in capacity-building. Your people will be relieved and hopeful. You, your organization and the launch will be far more successful.
If you're an employee, work for an organization that invests in capacity-building. If you're in nonprofit, identify a donor to fund capacity-building.
Funding capacity-building is actually funding SUCCESS.
Assuming you want to be successful, supported in your organization, and part of an impactful initiative - I work with leaders and organizations just like you!
